Centuries before the restoration of Jews to Israel ever began, Christians recognized the likelihood thereof, through bible prophecy. As Brightman put it in the 1500s:
"There is nothing more certain: the prophets do everywhere confirm it and beat upon it."
A fulfillment of prophecy so stunning, and display of divine providence to compelling, Ezekiel's prophecy suggests that in the wake of its fulfillment even "the heathen shall know that I [am] the LORD". Yet today some antizionists remain so Bible illiterate, or misguided through unsound doctrine, they deny that this stunning fulfillment of prophecy is of the Lord.

Let's look back to the words of those great men of God of the Reformation, that were penned long before the early 19th century, when the restoration of Jews to Israel began. If we read the quotes below simply as words on a page, we might miss the bold nature of their expectations. But when we frame their predictions in the context of being a thousand years after the Islamic imperialistic conquest of Israel, and following continuous Islamic rule over Israel throughout that millennium (with the exception of the 12th and 13th centuries when others ruled in the presence of the Islamic kingdom "beast") it isn't difficult to recognize the extraordinary nature of the absolute confidence they gleaned through Bible prophecy, that the restoration of Jews to their land would indeed take place at some point in their future:

John Owen 1616-1683: "The Jews shall be gathered from all parts of the earth where they are scattered, and brought home into their homeland."

Thomas Brightman 1562-1607: "The restoring of the Jewes and their callinge to the faith of Christ after the utter overthrow of their three enemies is set forth in livelie colours." "Shall they return to Jerusalem again?" "There is nothing more certain: the prophets do everywhere confirm it and beat upon it."

Matthew Henry 1662-1714: "If God will build Jerusalem for the people and their comfort, they must inhabit it for him and his glory. The promises and privileges with which God's people are blessed, should engage us to join them, whatever it costs us."

Isaac Newton 1642-1726: “Hence I observe these things, first that the restauration of the Jewish nation so much spoken of by the old Prophets respects not the few Jews who were converted in the Apostles days, but the dispersed nation of the unbelieving Jews to be converted in the end when the fullness of the Gentiles shall enter, that is when the Gospel (upon the fall of Babylon) shall begin to be preached to all nations. Secondly that the prophecies of Isaiah described above by being here cited by the Apostle is limited to respect the time of the future conversion and restitution of the Jewish Nation, and thirdly that the humour which has long reigned among the Christians of boasting our selves against the Jews, and insulting over them for their not believing, is reprehended by the Apostle for high –mindedness and self-conceipt, and much more is our using them despightfully, Pharisaicall and impious”.

In 1641 Oliver Cromwell stated, "And it may be, as some think, God will bring the Jews home to their station, 'from all the isles of the sea,' and answer their expectations 'as from the depths of the sea.'

In 1649 the English Puritans, Ebenezer and Joanna Cartwright,  living in Amsterdam, petitioned the British Government to lift the ban on Jews settling in England, and to assist them to move to Palestine:  "... with and amongst some of the Izraell race called Jewes, and growing sensible of their heavy out-cryes and clamours against the intolerable cruelty of this our English Nation, exercised against them by that ... inhumane ... massacre ... and their banishment ever since, ... that by discourse with them, and serious perusal of the Prophets, both they and we find, that the time of her call draweth nigh ... and that this Nation of England, with the inhabitants of the Netherlands, shall be the first and readiest to transport Izraells sons and daughters in their ships to the land promised to their forefathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, for an everlasting inheritance."

Along with others including John Owen, John Gill, Samuel Rutherford and Charles Wesley who in 1762 wrote:

    O that the chosen band
    Might now their brethren bring,
And gather'd out of every land
    Present to Sion's King;
    Of all the ancient race
    Not one be left behind,
But each impell'd by secret grace
    His way to Canaan find!

Then later on, (from Jewish History.org) in 1818 John Adams (1735-1826) Statesman and President. In a letter to Mordecai Manuel Noah, he wrote: "I wish your nation may be admitted to all the privileges of citizens in every country of the world." Regarding the re-establishment of a Jewish state, he wrote in the same year: "I really wish the Jews again in Judea an independent nation."

Sadly, because of church doctrine, a near unanimity of the Church today is unable to even consider that Daniel prophesied the restoration of the Jew's rule over Israel in 1948, and over Jerusalem in 1967 - right to the year - through two parallel math problems that span 2500 years.

Anti-Zionism in the "Church" (URL)

We aren't likely to find the preceding great men of God quoted on the liberal anti-Zionist, supersessionist, websites. As we browse the Internet we find there is no shortage of sites and videos - even cloaked as sheep - that are either so dishonest, or suffer such abject ignorance to the very subject about which they write, that they begin their "history" of Zionism with the 19th century pen of John Nelson Darby, or even later with Nathan Birnbaum, or still later Cyrus Scofield. Thus what we find in no shortage of disingenuous Internet sites that present themselves as Christian, is they reject that the restoration of Jews to Israel is of the Lord, and even preposterously suggest that John Nelson Darby is responsible for it! Let alone their turning a blind eye to 2500+ years of longing of Jews for their homeland, while suffering persecution when scattered among Gentile nations. Let alone that they must ignore the prophesies that foretold of modern Zionism, because supersessionist, preterist eschatology precludes even considering the possibility thereof. This in spite of the matter of fact physical reality of that restoration being so stunning as that tiny little strip of land that 1200 years of Islamic rule had rendered into a state of the complete and utter desolation of 200 years ago, to becoming one of the most technologically innovative and advanced, productive and prosperous countries on earth, as a leading economy among nations and a geopolitical focus of the world.

We generally find "Church" anti-Zionism among the usual suspects, from liberal and ecumenical Churches to interfaith pluralists, during this prophesied falling away or apostasy. The same churches that ignore church ordinances and ordain women and homosexuals, who would seem more interested in their church building's "carbon footprint", than preaching Christ crucified. Those who work to conform their church to the world, rather than doing what they can to conform the world to the Gospel. These institutions generally hold partial preterist eschatology, that fuels replacement theology and punitive supersessionism, which can lead to outright antisemitism. Even championing Israeli Muslims - who specifically target innocent men, women and children for murder - toward their Islamic conquest and subjugation of Israel Jews, Israeli Christians and Israeli non-Muslim Arabs.

Some "Churches" even inviting Islamic Imams and Muftis into their institutions - not to learn about Christianity but to teach Islam (actually engage in dissimulation) - in spite of the fact that Muhammad proclaimed the exact opposite of the whole subject of the Gospel, by denying Jesus' crucifixion and thus His shed blood. And in spite of their responsibility in the murder of so many thousands of Christians martyred around the world every year, with tens of thousands of deadly Islamic terror attacks around the world just since 9-11.

From the Hoover Institute: "Few people realize that we are today living through the largest persecution of Christians in history, worse even than the famous attacks under ancient Roman emperors like Diocletian and Nero. Estimates of the numbers of Christians under assault range from 100-200 million. According to one estimate, a Christian is martyred every five minutes. And most of this persecution is taking place at the hands of Muslims. Of the top fifty countries persecuting Christians, forty-two have either a Muslim majority or have sizeable Muslim populations."

Inviting Imams into their Churches to infect the body of Christ, even though when those imams are among their own, they teach that the most egregious and only unforgivable sin in Muhammad's religion - "shirk" - would be committed by a Muslim if they were to confess that Jesus is the Son of God or even pray in Jesus' name. As compared to child rape or cold-blooded mass murder for example, which may be forgiven.

A convenient listing of a few of the liberal, usual suspects, may be found on this anti-Zionism website. No wonder then that these liberals join Jeremiah Wright, David Duke and the KKK, Nazis, skinheads, antisemites of all stripes and Muslims - in anti-Zionism. Much more in our forum.

Some institutions go far beyond even religious pluralism, as that advanced by the "Chrislam" of the "International Interfaith Council", whose list of "Council Members" includes several self-proclaimed Christian pastors. At their website we find a link to "Three Holy Books" and listed are the "Qur'an" "Torah" and "Bible", which should immediately seem peculiar, since Christians share the Old Testament scriptures with Jews while being included in our Christian Bible. Then when we click on the "Bible" link we don't find a Bible, nor even a New Testament, but the 15th-16th century Muslim forgery of the so-called "Gospel of Barnabas". Perhaps best demonstrating this effort at grand deception, is the Interfaith Council not even labeling it as such but instead assigning the generic label "Bible" to it, while presenting that poppycock as something that has to do with Christianity. That foolish tripe even pretends to quote Jesus, as proclaiming Muhammad to be the Messiah!

Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find [it].

The God-given rights of freedom, liberty, and self-determination of all Israeli citizens, has been championed by Jewish citizens for 200 years, and has been staunchly defended by the democracy of the Israeli Jewish State since its establishment in 1948 in spite of unparalleled adversity. After the global secular and apostate anti-Zionist community compelled the Israelis to leave Gaza in exchange for yet another false promise of peace - removing their control over the land of Gaza they had built from virtually nothing over the prior half century - the Gaza Christians are beginning to pay the price. Please click on the links and read the full articles to see how our brothers and sisters are suffering subjugation to Muhammad's followers, in a state of dhimmitude, thanks to anti-Zionists. Indeed all anti-Zionism either directly or indirectly advances the Islamic conquest of Israel. Thus it shouldn't be a surprise to find who fruits the anti-Zionist tree along with the followers of the false prophet Muhammad and his anti-religion.

From WND "Christians warned: Accept Islamic law"
Christians can only continue living safely in the Gaza Strip if they accept Islamic law, including a ban on alcohol and on women roaming publicly without proper head coverings, an Islamist militant leader in Gaza told WND in an exclusive interview."
The militant leader said Christians in Gaza who engage in "missionary activity" will be "dealt with harshly."
"Jihadia Salafiya and other Islamic movements will ensure Christian schools and institutions show publicly what they are teaching to be sure they are not carrying out missionary activity. No more alcohol on the streets. All women, including non-Muslims, need to understand they must be covered at all times while in public," Abu Asqer told WND.
"This missionary activity is endangering the entire Christian community in Gaza," he said.
Abu Saqer said Hamas "must work to impose an Islamic rule or it will lose the authority it has and the will of the people."
"His comments come after gunmen on Sunday attacked Gaza's Latin Church and adjacent Rosary Sisters School, reportedly destroying crosses, bibles, pictures of Jesus and furniture and equipment. The attackers also stole a number of computers."

From WND (please read the full article at the link): "'Arab Spring' becoming Nightmare For Christians":
"Christian persecution escalated even before the “Arab Spring.”
Since Hamas took over Gaza in 2007, the coastal territory’s 3,000-strong Christian community has been facing rampant persecution.
One Gaza Christian leader told WND that Christians living in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip held only small, quiet Christmas celebrations in December after local leaders received warnings for the fifth year in a row from Muslim groups against any public display of Christianity.
Islamists have been suspected in a string of anti-Christian attacks, including the bombing of a Christian bookstore in November 2007 and the murder of the store’s manager, local Christian resident Rami Ayyad.
After Hamas’ rise to power, Christians in Gaza repeatedly have been targeted. The Islamic extremist group Jihadia Salafiya is suspected of many of the Islamist attacks, such as a May 2007 shooting against a United Nations school in Gaza after it allowed boys and girls to participate in the same sporting event. One person was killed in the attack.
In the case of Ayyad, who managed the only Christian bookstore in Gaza, his body was discovered riddled with gunshot and stab wounds."
"The witnesses said they saw three armed men, two of whom were wearing masks, beat Ayyad repeatedly with clubs and the butts of their guns while they accused him of attempting to spread Christianity in Gaza. The witnesses said that after sustaining the beating, Ayyad was shot by all three men."
